The Ratio X CVT is a continuously variable transmission (CVT) for e-bikes. In principle, CVTs have been known for a long time, but they are not widely used in the bicycle industry yet. The Ratio X CVT is an innovative version that offers a number of advantages over traditional bicycle transmissions.
The Ratio X CVT consists of two cones that slide together. One cone is connected to the engine block, the other cone to the rear wheel. By changing the distance between the cones, the gear ratio is adjusted.
This happens automatically, without the cyclist having to switch gears. The CVT ensures that the engine always has the optimal speed, regardless of the driving speed. This results in a smoother and more efficient driving experience.
The technical product animation on the Ratio X website is intended to clarify how the CVT works. The 3D animation is based on 3D CAD on the 3D CAD model and shows how the cones slide together and how this changes the transmission ratio.
